• What is TR Index?

    TR Index developed by TUBITAK ULAKBIM is a bibliographic / full text database containing articles in the fields of Science and Social Sciences.

  • What is the purpose of TR Index?

    Bringing scientific journals originating from Turkey in compliance with international standards, and providing access to the content in these journals.

  • Why should a scientific journal appear in TR Index?

    A journal should appear in TR Index for it facilitates access to academic information produced in Turkey, increases the visibility of the journal and is an “index” accepted by the Higher Education Council (YOK) and the Inter-University Council (IUC) for appointments and promotions.

  • Where can the first application be made to TR Index?

    Journal applications that meet the application requirements must be submitted through theOnline Journal Monitoring System (ODIS)

  • What are the subject fields within TR Index?

    In the field of Life Sciences;

    • Dentistry, Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, Basic Sciences, Health Sciences, Veterinary Medicine,

    In the field of Social Sciences;

    • Social Sciences and Humanities
  • Do we also need to apply to TR Index for a magazine already in DergiPark?

    Yes. The DergiPark Project conducted by ULAKBIM provides hosting and process management services for academic journals. TR Index is a different platform where scientific journals that meet certain criteria are indexed. Therefore, the application must be submitted separately through the Online Journal Monitoring System (ODIS) to initiate the indexing process of the journal in the TR Index.

  • How does the process work after the Journal applies to TR Index?

    The journal is monitored by the Committee for at least one year from the date of application. Whether the journal is published at the announced sequence is monitored. If other Preliminary Evaluation conditions are also met, the relevant Committee shall evaluate them in line with the “Journal Evaluation Criteria” and notify the journal editor of the decision.

  • How should the editors of journals that are deemed unsuitable to be indexed after being evaluated by the Committee take action?

    Following the notification of the committee evaluation results to the editor, the deficiencies mentioned in the said notification should be fixed by the journal editor. If it is seen that the deficiencies have been fixed in the Preliminary Evaluations to be made by the specialist in charge in the TR Index Group, the journal is re-evaluated by the Committee at the end of the following year. A journal that is rejected twice in a row will not be considered for 2 years.

  • If the journal editor has changed, and does not know the passwords to log into the journal records in ODIS, where should they apply?

    After the editor creates the ODIS user account, they submit a request for the assignment of the journal via “journal responsibility request form” through ODIS.

  • If the journal registered in ODIS continues to be published both in print and electronically, should the PDFs of the published issues be uploaded to ODIS?

    Yes, in both cases, PDFs of published issues (including outside and inside covers, contents page) should be uploaded to ODIS.

  • If the journal registered in ODIS continues to be published both in print and electronically, do the printed issues need to be sent to ULAKBIM?

    No, printed copies are not required.

  • Does a journal that meets the criteria and starts being indexed in TR Index get the right to be indexed continuously?

    No, journals are re-evaluated periodically by the Committee. The journal that does not meet the criteria is removed from the index and monitored for at least one year.

  • Do all Peer-review Reports have to be uploaded to ODIS?

    No. For further information, please refer to the relevant article of the TR Index Journal Evaluation Criteria.

  • What should be taken into consideration when uploading the Peer-review Reports requested by ULAKBIM?

    The peer-review reports should be uploaded as a PDF showing the entire evaluation process of the article (the first form of the submitted article, the consultant criticisms, the second and, if any, subsequent correction requests and submissions, editorial board reports, if any, the final decision minutes and the printed form of the article).
